It was a special time at The Ritz- Carlton, St. Louis when a family from Washington was visiting for two weeks. During their stay, the family had been touching the lives of many Ladies and Gentlemen at the Hotel but Kelly from Club Lounge and Daniel from Loss Prevention in particular. During one of the conversations with the family, Kelly learned they were in town to get a very specific eye procedure done for their daughter – a procedure that was only available in St. Louis. She shared the family’s story with Daniel, who gave the girl his Loss Prevention lapel pin to help her continue to be brave.
The surgery was a success and Kelly and Daniel wanted to plan a special evening of fun and relaxation for them after the stressful months and days they had been through. They worked with all Departments of the Hotel to transform The Wine Room into a mega-screen movie theater complete with snacks, pillows, and blankets for the children plus two oversized teddy bears to complete the scene. Kelly and Daniel had also discovered that the parents were celebrating their 11th wedding anniversary but had been so overwhelmed with their daughter’s surgery and their journey, they had nothing planned. Kelly and Daniel worked with the culinary team to set a romantic dinner for two by candlelight in the back of the room, while their daughter and son watched their movie so they could still be with their children but especially enjoy their anniversary. By the end of the night, a photographer was on site taking a picture of the family, which was framed and presented to them. The family was completely blown away by the love and care from Kelly and Daniel. The duo later received a homemade children’s book created entirely by their daughter with a whole story and colorful pictures about her magical stay at The Ritz-Carlton, St. Louis.
